OPCCA has the potential to contribute greatly to election campaigns by bringing a potential talent pool that can be utilized during elections to fill the critical shortage of trained campaigners from door-knocker to GOTV chairs and campaign managers. To do this we need to continue with a rigorous campaign training strategy.
Over the past year the OPCCA executive has made important advancements and identified training as the main way OPCCA can contribute to the PC Party. Training will only work if it is pursued consistently over several years. We will do this by:
- Carrying forward with the May OPCCA-OPCYA weekend election training conference as planned
- Immediately begin the planning on a second training conference for the following year
The new conference will be modeled in a similar three-tier fashion, to provide beginner, intermediate and advanced campaign techniques with people being streamed into each tier based on their progress in the previous conference and campaign experience.
In addition to election training, Team Merkley will continue with progress made in providing across-province training sessions for recruitment and campus activism for student election and referendum campaigns.
